Something to think about

The other day I took the kids to the neighborhood barbecue and the host lady ask a really good question.  She ask "how do you know when to speak to Wes in Chinese and when to speak in English?" I pondered this question for a few days.  I think when I speak to him in English, often times, I am discipling him. When daddy is at work and we are alone, I would speak Chinese to him.

The whole preschool thing does make me wonder because his teachers will all speak English and they would not understand him.

In other news, Wes has been potty trained for a month, and Ari is 9 months today.

Not that Curious, Thanks!

Went to Museum of Curiosity with parents and kids. Wait in line over half an hour, stay in there about 15-20 minutes.  Loud and noisy, full of kids of course.  If this is your thing, you'll love it. For us, we will wait until the crowd ends.  Later, went to lunch at a new japanese steakhouse in Lehi with folks. Wes was being a pill and had accident in the middle of his tantrum. Glad I brought extra pants.

No KFC For Me

Second time I went to KFC on a Wed morning to get their 2.99 chicken and corn meal.  Again, at 11:07 not one person answer my order.  This is the last time I will go there. Deal or No deal. ITs not worth my time to circle around until they officially open.  Door says their open at 10:30am

I'm Not a Bad Mom

Today as I dropped the kids at rec centre day care. Both of them fell off the stroller.  I had put them both on the same end of the stroller and they tipped over. Wes and Aril both felt on the ground.  I said "Jesus H. Christ" and it was bad experience for all of us.

Oh WEs!

So we are at the jungle gym in the Rec. Centre and Wes says hi to all the older girls so they would play with him.  Sometimes, his strategy works, other times, they just say hello to him and leaves.  The younger girls he approaches often times wants to play their own game and not follow and play with him at all times.  Funny how that works.

Today at the playground he also bit a baby toddler on the hand because he approach him and wanted to play.  He had a timeout with tears and all the drama with it.

Part a y!

Today we hosted a get together with Bry's work friends.  We had Hector and Anna (His graduate students), Stephanie, Suzette, Covy and family of six.  Really was enjoyable, good conversations and break from monotony.  Little wes love the company so much he was really fighting me during bath time.

Miss Ari

Dear Ari,

At 8 months and 2 weeks old, real age (7 months old) we are so proud of your development.  You love to giggle when tickled.  I love throwing you up in the air, and see a big smile on your face.  So much fun now, love to interact and make sounds of your own.  Mom and dad have to be careful where we place you on the bed now, because your can roll from tummy to back and vice versa.

Sweet Ari

Dear Wes

I love how you try to quiet your baby sister when  she is being fussy.  You look in her eyes and ssshh her.  Sometimes it is a success.  Most of the time, you tend to annoy the heck out of each other.

I am just amazed by your language development. You can say ok, yes, no, gao (tall) and even yu (fish) in Gong gong's house. I also love how I can tell you about today's event and you understand it all and get so very excited!

My boy is growing up.

2 week Mom aka "the Water Pusher"

Yesterday was Wes' last day at swim lesson. Even though I paid $45 for the lessons it became water play.  Oh well. Later last night, we took Wes and Ari to Art City Carnival.  He got to ride on 3 rides and was most difficult to remove from the premise but what do you expect , he's two (almost three).

Some Days Swimming is Misery

So today was day 5 of swim lessons.  Wes is such a pill when he is with me, all the things you think he learned before like jumping into water, blowing bubbles is all but gone. Swim Lady told me kids do better without their moms.  No S$u!.  I just have to endure one more day of pulling him out of the water, and scream crying all the way to the car.

Next time, he can do swim lessons with his father.

Week 2 StayAtHome Mom

Today I took Wes to swimming lesson and drop Ari at Dana's house.  I found that when we have activities planned everything seem tolerable and more doable.  The kids have activities out of the house is always good for them too.

During week 2 of Wes potty training we are not celebrating yet, because we still get accidents of #2 (thankfully the hard kind) Bryce and I just dump it in the toilet.

We are also getting our neighbor's 11year old girl to start babysitting for us once a week. So we can have some time alone.  Keep you updated on how that goes...

What luck?!

Yesterday, I drove to Randy's house in Orem for work party and I got hit by a distracted driver.  At least, he admit fault.  Saying he was looking at a cute dog. Anyhoo, he hit the gal behind me, then her car hit mine.  Now prius will go to body shop while we get everything back to what it was.  Hopefully, this will be within the next week.

Wes today went to his 2 3/4 years old dental appt. it was $59 with a coupon.  They took an X-ray, floss, and exam.  They said at this stage just make sure dentist is not a scary person.  The tip is for Wes to use floss threaders because his teeth are now touching.

Terrific Tuesday

This morning the kiddos and I went to rec center.  I workout while they play at the child care lab. Wes  seems to really love the lab and the inside soft playground.   I let him play for additional 15 minutes before we left.

Then we drop off Ari at Dana's house so we could go swimming.  The lessons have been more water playing time for Wes.  He can't really focus like the 5-7 year olds in the group.  But the experience still wears him out.

As for potty training day 4.  Wes today made a #2 by himself in our toilet. It's going well.  He manages to stop himself from a temper tantrum and go to number  one all by him self.  We are still working on the night time and naps routine since most say this will take the most time.  Mostly, we've been having him wear underwear and wrapped a diaper around it.

Day 2 Potty Training

Except for a few bumps, we had a great 2nd day of potty training.

The Good- Wes went to the bathroom most of the time on his own, we did not have to remind him to much to go.

Bumps: Both of his #2 were assisted by either Bry or I. The first time I saw him ready to go and sure enough he almost had his turd on the floor.  The second time we were playing out in the yard and he went right out there.  I had him helped me clean it up.

Hoping night 2 is as good as first night.  He did not wake up at all last night. Even though he was a little wet.

8 months Ari

Ari was eight months yesterday. She is making good progress, she has been rolling back and forth for a while. In addition, she also loves to interact with everyone. She has been able to roll from from to back, to back to front. She eats solids twice a day.

We started wes on potty training today. With our intense support from 6:30am to 9pm he was able to have eight successful pee pee . He is even wearing big boy underwear now.it takes a lot of patience. Tomorrow we start day 2.

Potty Training Day One Summary

Pretty intense morning and afternoon. Every 5 minutes, put him on the potty for 10 minutes.  Then after 3 successful attempts in toilet move to every 10 minutes/ 10 minutes. Wes had 8 successful number ones and two accidents. Now on to night training. Surprisingly he woke up dry.

More to come for Day 2.
