2014 Dino and Hot Springs Excursion

Yesterday, we came back from our 3 day trip with the Wangs'.  It sure was nice to break from the monotony of our daily routine.  Day one we drove 170 miles to Vernal, Utah.  Stay at a really nice hotel called Springhill suites.  We then visit the Dinosaur park and saw a wall full of dino fossils.  I think Wes was too young to realize the magnitude of this but I think he had fun too.

On Day two and three we drove an additional 200 miles to Glenwood Springs, Colorado.  There we stay at a posh lodge named after the hot springs.  Our hotel was much smaller for $200/night but our location was perfect.  Our room was away from the main hallway, it had a patio and a garden great for Wes.  On night three we even play ball with Wes at the garden. At Glenwood, we got to bathe and swim in the hot springs pool.  Little Wes, was very timid by the size of the pool so he mostly stay with Bryce and I in the hot springs.

It sure was nice to have my mom, dad and brother along.  Not only did we catch up on old days but they also helped Bryce and I tremendously with the babies.  Though I believe by the end they were a bit worn out  by our kids, so I'm glad they have the rest of the week to rest.

Day at the Living Planet Aquarium

It was supposed to be a family event. Opening weekend, I got the tickets purchased online the day before and we were going to get there before they even opened. When we got there 10 minutes before they opened there was already 80 people waiting in lines. Thankfully, because I had purchased tickets online, I went to another line.  Bry was impatient and left with Ari about a minute when we arrived.  Wes and I waited for about 5-7 minutes and we got into the Aquarium.

We got to see all four exhbits, some of them twice! (chasing the two year old where ever he went)
Together we saw, Antarctic exhibit with penguins, Rainforest with Tucan bird, Africa, and Ocean tunnel with sting rays and shark.  Wes and I stayed for about an hour before Bry came to pick us up around11:00.  I was peeved.

Down

Some days like today, I feel down on myself.  Not a good teacher, not a good wife or a good mother.  Plus on my home from work I slam the door on my flipping thumb, it still hurts.

For the 2013-14 school year, I've been working as a part-time Second Grade Chinese teacher.  I love it on most days, but not today.  It's because of poor planning, my students are a bit wild. I am tired.

Other wives got it togther and can make elaborate meals and I'm not that organized.

With Wes, he gets 4 hours of technology or TV time, he actually gets so sick of it, he goes out to play on his own by 11am.  I'm so worn out that I don't even have time to teach him.

Ari is a good baby.

Fun Sunday

Today we went to Ancient Life Museum in Lehi at Thanksgiving Point.  We walked through the museum and play in the tinkering room.  It was quite fun and overwhelming for little Wes. Good Times. Then Wes got to stay with Uncle Marty while Bry and I went to Hiking Party.

Heart wrench

Today as I dropped Wes and Ari at Molly's house, there was a very bittersweet moment.  Little Wes just went right in without a care for his mama.  But Baby Ari was being held by Molly and finally realized that I was leaving started to make a frown and began to cry on the inside. She now knows that I am leaving...but this is good for her.  Ari will learned that mama and daddy will come back for her.

Defend your case

Dear Wes,

I love how you argue that the monkey is not a monkey but "George". Love, Mom.

Sugar Sunday

On this Sunday we went to Gong gong's house in Midvale. We also took the kids to Golden Corral, that was a challenging experience.  Wes being a two year-old wanted to run around and did not want to obey. Instead of keeping him preoccupied with coloring and such, my family choose to kept him quiet using 2 ice cream cones and a stick of cotton candy.  He did indeed quiet down, but I knew I would pay for it later.  Because bry was leaving for a 5 hour drive to Boise I got to stay with the kids alone and witness the aftermath of too much sugar and little nap.

Wes was super cranky when we came home he cried and fuss for about twenty minutes. Hitting every object he could.  Later after 5pm, he calmed down and we were playing kick ball together and you could see in his eyes how high he still was.
He does really love and accept his baby sis, he was being all goofy to make her laugh. Also when the ball hit her hand he kiss her hand. Very sweet ending to Sugar Sunday.
